You can travel the world with Disney animated films. The Rescuers Down Under is the first animated sequel by Disney. The original The Rescuers was released in 1970; The Rescuers Down Under was released in 1990.

The Rescuers Down Under and the previous Disney film, The Rescuers are based on novels by Margery Sharp. In The Rescuers Down Under we are whisked away to the Australian Outback. Bernard and Bianca, with the aid of Wilbur the albatross go on a mission to rescue the boy Cody who is trapped by a poacher.

In The Rescuers Down Under, the backgrounds and characters were drawn by the animators, and then scanned into the computers. The new CAPS process was used to paint in the cels of the full length film. This is the first Disney animated film to use this technique.

The Rescuers Down Under joins The Black Cauldron as one of only two Disney animations that has no musical numbers. It was critically acclaimed, but did less than expected in the box office. A third sequel was cancelled after the death of Eva Gabor, who voiced the character Bianca.
