Oliver & Company is an animated feature film that came out 1988. It is about a homeless kitten named Oliver and he joined a gang of dogs to survive the New York City streets in the 1980s. This is the 27th animated movie that Disney has produced.
This movie has bee inspired by the novel, Oliver Twist, which was written by Charles Dickens. However, Oliver Twist, was replaced with Oliver, the kitty. Fagin's gang is represented by dogs. It was re-released on March 29, 1996 in USA, Canada and UK.

It was directed by George Scribner and produced by111 Kathleen Gavin (production manager). This was from Original book Oliver Twist, as written by Charles Dickens. The animation screenplay was done by Jim Cox, Timothy A. Disney, and James Mangold.

It won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for "Why Should I Worry" and the Golden Reel Awards Golden Reel Awards for Best Sound Editing. It was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Family Feature Film for Animation. Sadly it didn't win that.
This has a lot of firsts. Disney's Oliver and Company Film is the first animated movie done by Disney to introduce innovative sound effects that replaced many of the original classic sounds. Also this is the first Disney movie to include real world advertised products like Coca-Cola, USA Today, Sony, and Ryder Truck Rental.
